A story that travels through time
The Ancient Origins
The roots of the history of the Tirino Valley lie in the mists of time. The first traces of human settlements date back to prehistoric times, with archaeological finds that testify to the presence of ancient villages and agricultural communities along the banks of the Tritàno river. The first human traces have contributed to shaping the identity of our valley over the millennia, traces somehow contained in a sculpture, the Warrior of Capestrano, dating back to the 6th century BC found in a necropolis of the ancient city of Aufinum, a few kilometers from Capestrano, depicting a warrior of the ancient Italic people of the Vestini. A statue that has become the symbol of Abruzzo in the world.
The Passage of the Romans
With the advent of the Romans, the Tirino river, the same one that today gives its name to our valley, was named Tirinum flumen, to be originated from three sources (Capodacqua, Lago and Presciano) all located in the territory of Ofena and Capestrano. This territory soon became an integral part of the Empire and was crossed by important communication and trade routes from east to west. The ingenuity of the Romans allowed the construction of roads, bridges and settlements which still today testify to the greatness of their civilization, even in our territory. The remains of ancient cities and Roman villas are scattered along the valley, offering precious evidence of an extraordinary past.
The Middle Ages and the Fortifications
In the medieval period, the Tirino Valley experienced an era of great transformations and cultural ferment. The villages and castles that shape the landscape are silent witnesses of battles, alliances and betrayals that characterized the feudal era. The imposing fortifications that still dominate the skyline today are a symbol of resistance and pride for the communities that inhabited the valley.
The traces of time
Every stone, every wall and every street in the Tritàna Valley tells a story, a fragment of life that has taken place over the centuries. Through the passage of time, the valley has known moments of splendor and decline, prosperity and difficulty, but it has always been able to maintain a strong identity, the same one we tell about in our products.

A treasure of food and wine
The Tirino Valley is renowned not only for its history and its breathtaking landscapes, but also for its extraordinary food and wine richness.
